We are happy to announce that the winner of the last month's JMA Architectural Scavenger Hunt is..... Spencer Rand! being the first to identify the November clue: Norfolk Family Health Team's Simcoe expansion, located in Simcoe, ON.

Spencer, let us know if you want coffee from Matter of Taste, or an ice cream gift card from Four All, and swing by our office to pick up your price! It will be really nice to see you.

A bit about the Norfolk Family Health Team expansion:
This interior fit-up allowed the Team to expand into a spacious, fully accessible, central location in Simcoe. The ground floor facility (over 12,300 s.f.) now includes exam rooms, counselling rooms, administrative space and other multipurpose space for various programs and services.

We were tasked with making the space feel welcoming, bright, cheerful, and to respond to the rural character of Norfolk County. As a result, the facility design uses colour, texture and materials on floors walls and ceilings to guide users through the clinic with ease, in the most intuitive way possible. Wood finishes, biophilic patterns on finishes, large murals of natural landscapes and a stone clad electric fire place make for a familiar homey space in the waiting room that helps keep patients at ease. On the hallways, the walls use the colours of the NFHT logo (sage green, denim blue, navy blue, and ocre) to direct patients to the different sections of the clinic. Equally the floors’ patterns and colours mark zones, entrances. Ceiling heights and materials (wood, drywall, ceiling tiles) also help define the private/public nature of the various areas. Translucent glass with retro textures bring in natural light into interior hallways while providing the necessary privacy in rooms that are against exterior curtain walls. The overall experience of the clinic is one rich with sensory stimulation that responds well to the various aspects of the patients health care experience.

And now, the 4th clue of the JMA Architectural Scavenger Hunt:

The first to respond correctly identifying the building wins a bag of coffee beans (or loose leaf tea, if you prefer) from Matter of Taste, or a gift card from Four All Ice Cream. Your choice! You'll just have to swing by our office to pick up your prize and say hi.

When you identify the building, please tell us what the building is (for example “the fire/EMS station”) and the location (for example, “in Breslau visible from the road to Guelph after the turnoff for the Breslau bypass” or “51 Beacon Point Ct, Breslau”)

Send your responses to me, [email protected]. Write Scavenger Hunt on the subject line. The winner will be announced the following month, along with the new clue.

The small print:

If you worked on, or in, the building, or if you are related to anyone who worked on or in, you can’t win. The first one to respond by email with the correct answer, wins. No one can win more than once. If you cause us to have to make more small print, you can’t win either.

You can also follow us on Instagram, or check the blog on our website, where we will also be posting the same scavenger hunt clues.

Please let us know if you don’t want to receive emails about the Scavenger Hunt and I'll remove you from the list.

The next scavenger hunt clue will be posted on January 11, and subsequently on the 11th of every month, ending on August 11, 2025.
