Region of Waterloo International Airport
in joint venture with ZAS Architects
Welcome to Region of WaterlooSmall airport is all about uncomplicated friendlinessDescription:Working with ZAS Architects, JMA provided full architectural services to the Region of Waterloo. The terminal design celebrates the excitement of air travel, with a soaring roof and a fully glazed two storey concourse bathed with natural light and offering expansive views of the busy airfields and the sky. New security requirements where incorporated into the design of the facility to help support a flexible screening process and international security procedures. The new airport terminal allows the Regional Airport to include scheduled domestic and international flights, greatly increasing passenger flow and security requirements. Our Role:Public consultation, design, documentation, procurement and contract administration. “John MacDonald Architect assisted the Region in successfully achieving its objectives within the budget and schedule parameters associated with the Region of Waterloo International Airport Addition and Renovation. John was involved and committed throughout all stages of the project from design, tender, and construction administration. He worked closely with the Region during the design development process, and demonstrated his skill working with design committees. The facility is recognised as a modern and inviting gateway to our region.” — Ellen McGaghey Director, Facilities Management Region of Waterloo “John MacDonald Architect really understood the complex design, construction and operational requirements of our facility. They capably handled our unique issues, because they made it their business to know about the needs of all the stakeholders.
