Description:A renovation of both levels of a single storey house with a full walk-out basement, to a fully accessible group home facility for Sunbeam Community & Developmental Centre. The property required a change of use to be classified as a Group B3 Care Facility under the Building Code. The existing water service had to be upgraded to install a sprinkler system that met Building Code requirements. A new lift was installed in the existing shaft. Other upgrades to the existing building included fire separations between rooms and the remainder of the floor area, magnetic locking for access control and security purposes and a new fire alarm system.
Our Role:Review of existing conditions, full architectural services from schematic design through to post-construction, code review and coordination.
